According to an official announcement by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Giovanni Malagò has been appointed Commissioner of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), with new elections to be held by January 31, 2027.

CONI confirmed that the 1177th meeting of the National Council took place in Rome that morning. President Buonfiglio proposed to the council that Malagò be appointed Commissioner of the FIGC to oversee the organization of new elections. The meeting concluded at 13:15.
