According to Italian media outlet Football and Finance, Roma's Stadio Olimpico will undergo modernization ahead of Euro 2032, with the first phase of construction scheduled to begin in summer 2027 and aiming for completion by 2030. The stadium will remain operational throughout the project.

Marco Mezzaroma, head of Sport e Salute, stated that the renovation aims to enhance the spectator experience and transform the stadium into a more modern, inclusive, and versatile venue capable of hosting major sporting events, concerts, and entertainment activities.
"We want spectators to have a complete sporting experience," Mezzaroma said. "A more modern and open stadium will attract all kinds of major sporting, musical, and entertainment events. Every event can create emotional resonance and generate value for the city, the region, and the entire sports ecosystem."
According to the plan, Stadio Olimpico will feature new large LED screens, VIP reception areas, premium hospitality zones, corporate event spaces, enhanced catering facilities, retail areas, and merchandise outlets.
At the same time, the stadium will upgrade its existing technical infrastructure and introduce renewable energy systems to enhance its modernity and sustainable operational capabilities.
The core concept of this renovation is to transform the stadium from a venue active only on match days into a comprehensive activity space that functions continuously before, during, and after games.
Project leaders believe this is not only an infrastructure investment for Euro 2032 but also a long-term plan for the future development of Roma.
Regarding the construction schedule, the renovation project will be implemented in phases according to a fixed timeline to ensure the stadium remains operational during construction. The first phase is expected to begin in summer 2027, with the overall renovation targeted for completion by 2030.
Mezzaroma concluded, "This project exemplifies teamwork; it demonstrates that when various institutions work towards the same goal, significant national challenges can be transformed into tangible results."
"We are not just preparing Italy to host a major international event, but also building advanced, sustainable infrastructure for the capital and the entire country, enabling it to continue generating economic value, driving related industries, and creating positive impact for years to come."
