On October 13, 2024 (CET), ESPN cited reports from TEAMtalk stating that scouts from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid attended Anfield last Sunday to watch Erling Haaland, Manchester City's star striker. During that match, Haaland scored in City's 3-0 victory over Liverpool FC.

According to reports, with Manchester City facing potential sanctions over hundreds of alleged financial violations, the two La Liga giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are closely monitoring the possibility of signing Erling Haaland in the future.

It is understood that scouts from Real Madrid and FC Barcelona were not solely focused on Manchester City's striker during their visit. FC Barcelona is also reportedly tracking Ronaldo Araujo, the defender on loan from Liverpool FC, while Real Madrid is showing interest in Alexis Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz, Liverpool FC's midfielders.
