The People’s Elephant former player has charged his club to go all out with the right mentality and determination to outclash the Moroccans

Ahmed Garba claims that Enyimba players must have the right mentality and the desire to win if they are to stage a comeback against Raja Casablanca in the return leg fixture of the semi-final of the Caf Confederation Cup on Wednesday night.

The people’s Elephant are going into the reverse tie having lost at home 1-0 to the Moroccans about three weeks ago in Aba but despite the setback, Garba who was in the Enyimba team that won the first Caf Champions League crown for Nigeria in 2003 said it is still possible for his former club to qualify for the final.

He recalled how Nigerians labelled them not good enough after their 6-1 loss to Ismaily SC in their second group stage game in the 2003 Caf Champions League but recalled how their determination helped them find an answer to critics.

“I know they have an important game on Wednesday against Raja Casablanca and even though many have written them off before the start of the game, it doesn’t really matter," Garba told Goal.

"They must work on their own mindset and head into the game with the right mentality and the eagerness to do their name a lot of good.

“It is not the first time an away team will change the course of the result of a game and I have the belief that Enyimba can do it despite the home loss.

"They should not see the game as a dead-rubber tie because of the first leg. They can write their own history with good performance in Casablanca.

“it was even more difficult for us when we were beaten 6-1 by Ismaily in 2003 in one of our group stage matches but we still went ahead to win the competition at the expense of the same opponents in the final. Enyimba players must show the right mentality and the willingness to fight from the start to finish.”
