The Owena Whales pulled off the biggest surprise on matchday 28, as they crushed the Saraki Boys to clinch their first maximum points on the road

ABS FC 2-4 Sunshine Stars 

Thompson Ezekiel was the show master as his brace inspired Sunshine Stars to a 4-2 victory over ABS FC.

Sikiru Alimi shocked the home fans with a poacher's finish early in the second half with former ABS forward Ajibola Otegbeye heading home to put the scoreline at 2-0.

Oyedeji Samuel gave the hosts hope when he sent Henry Ayodele to the wrong way with a well-taken spot kick while Ezekiel started his show with a clinical strike. Anaekwe Ebuka reduced the tally when he scrambled the ball home.

Ezekiel extinguished hopes of a comeback for the Saraki Boys with a brilliant header to the back of the net as the thrilling game ended 4-2 in favour of the Owena Whales.

Plateau United 3-0 Akwa United 

Plateau United sent ten-man Akwa United home empty-handed with a ruthless 3-0 thrashing of the Promise Keepers at the Rwang Pam Stadium. 

The referee adjudged Ifeanyi Ifeanyi to have handled the ball in the box and he pointed to the penalty spot. Emmanuel James put the ball past Ojo Olorunleke for the opener.

The game became difficult for Akwa when Ubong Friday was sent off for dissent in the first half. 

Emeka Umeh and Kabiru Umar were on song in the closing stages of the game as the Peace Boys maintained their grip at the top of the table. 

Enyimba FC 3-0 Niger Tornadoes 

Goals from Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, Chinoso Okonkwo and Stanley Dimgba earned Enyimba a 3-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the U.J Esuene Stadium. 

Ibenegbu's strike came in the first half from a well-whipped free-kick. The other goals came in the second half, with Chinonso's brilliant effort being followed by Dimgba

Tornadoes had their chances inside the first hour, but they could not find a way past the goalkeeper. 

Enugu Rangers 1-1 Shooting Stars 

The relegation battle of Shooting Stars took a huge boost as they forced Enugu Rangers to a 1-1 draw at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. 

Rangers made their first half dominance count with the curtain raiser in the 27th minute.

The Oluyole Warriors regrouped in the second stanza and got a well-deserved equaliser with 12 minutes left on the clock through mid-season signing, Abu Azeez. 

Gombe United 2-0 El Kanemi Warriors 

Sanni Abanni and Idris Bakare's second half goals were enough for Gombe United in a 2-0 win at home to El Kanemi Warriors.

The Savannah Scorpions struggled to get going in a flat first half at the Pantami Stadium, but they stepped up things with goals in the 68th and 90th minutes respectively.

Abia Warriors 2-0 Nasarawa United 

Abia Warriors ended their two-match losing streak with a decisive 2-0 result against Nasarawa United at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Sunday Adetunji breathed air into the game with the opener before the striker completed his brace with the final blow from the penalty spot.

Wikki Tourists 2-0 Kano Pillars 

The bragging rights in the Northern derby was on offer with Kano Pillars going down 2-0 to Wikki Tourists.

Ahmed Usman opened the scoring before Chinedu Onyelenu killed off the tie.

Pillars edged the final 20 minutes but created little and squandered chances. 

Katsina United 2-1 Lobi Stars 

Lobi Stars' push for a top three spot took a blow after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Katsina United on Sunday afternoon.

Striker Chinedu Udechukwu gave the Chanji Boys an early lead to subdue the spirited Pride of Benue, and Suleiman Ibrahim sealed the win with a goal from a rebound.

The second goal killed temporarily killed off the little fighting spirit left in Lobi Stars as they seized control of the game, with Anthony Okpotu getting on the scoresheet.
