According to Manchester Evening News, former Manchester United players Butt and Saha have both advised their former club to consider signing Galatasaray striker Osimhen.

Under manager Carrick, Manchester United was reportedly considering strengthening their attack this summer but ultimately decided against signing new strikers. Sesko has performed well in the second half of his first season at Manchester United and is expected to lead the attack once fully fit. With Sesko absent for much of pre-season, Mbeumo and Cunha have taken turns playing as the centre-forward.

The 27-year-old Osimhen has been linked with a move this summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly interested. Butt believes Osimhen could provide healthy competition for Sesko.

In an interview with Midnite, Butt said: "I would consider Rashford as a centre-forward, because I think Cunha and Mbeumo would be better suited to the wing. Sesko could also contribute occasionally."

Speaking about Osimhen, Butt said: "I think Osimhen is a player who could be signed. For a club like Manchester United, he is not out of reach. I'm not saying he's a superstar who can immediately start."

Butt added: "We should only discuss players who have a realistic chance of being signed; there's no point talking about top stars who are simply unattainable. So I would quietly keep an eye on Osimhen. Physically and in terms of pace, he would be a very good fit for the Premier League."

Earlier this year, Butt suggested Manchester United sign Osimhen. He believes that using Sesko as a centre-forward has been ineffective, and Manchester United needs experienced reinforcement in that position, particularly now that the club has returned to the Champions League. Osimhen is reported to be earning £200,000 per week at Galatasaray.

In March, Butt told Paddy Power: "Osimhen has strong physical attributes and pace, with the ability to run in behind the defence. He excels in duels, has good dribbling skills, can score in multiple ways, and is strong in the air."

Butt also said: "I know Osimhen hasn't yet proven himself in the Premier League, but with his physical attributes and playing style, he would certainly be able to adapt."

Another former Manchester United player, Louis Saha, has also advised his former club to consider signing the Nigerian international. Saha told MrGamble: "I can confirm that Osimhen is a Manchester United fan and loves the club. I can see in his eyes the impact this club has on him, and he knows what he can bring to this team."

Saha added: "Osimhen could be a player like Bruno Fernandes; he would quickly understand this club. Manchester United just needs to contact him, but that step hasn't happened yet. Osimhen is still waiting."
