Ehizibue joined Genoa on a free transfer, thanks to De Rossi's persuasion. Ehizibue explained this in a lengthy interview with Corriere della Sera.
He said: "The coach is the kind of person who wants to win every game. He gives you great motivation. The stadium, playing there, the emotions are completely different."
Performance is not an issue
Ehizibue also addressed Genoa's position in the standings, with the club currently sitting bottom with just 1 point. However, he believes it's only a matter of time, as the team is strong and simply hasn't fully proven itself yet: "Against Parma, we want to win. So far, we've played Napoli, Lazio, and Como."
The importance of faith
A few years ago, Ehizibue turned down Genoa because "God told him not to go," or so he said at the time. Circumstances later changed, and he eventually joined the Liguria club. Reflecting on this, Ehizibue said: "At that time, I wasn't feeling well and wasn't ready to leave the Netherlands yet. Of course, that wasn't the club's fault."
