According to French media RMC Sport, news that 36-year-old Senegalese international Idrissa Gueye has invested in Le Mans FC has sparked controversy. French anti-discrimination associations have condemned the move, arguing that the club is sacrificing sporting ethics for financial gain, and have demanded that the club withdraw its decision to accept Gueye's investment.

On September 23, French Ligue 1 club Le Mans FC officially announced that Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye had become one of the club's investors, alongside former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva. Le Mans' current shareholder list includes numerous stars and renowned sports figures such as Thibaut Courtois and Novak Djokovic.

However, the decision has been publicly criticized by the National Union for Anti-Discrimination (Union Nationale pour le Combat contre le Racisme, l'Antisémitisme et toute forme de Discrimination). The association accuses Le Mans of prioritizing financial interests over sporting values and has called on the club to reconsider accepting Gueye's investment.

The conflict stems from an incident during Gueye's time at PSG: when the league introduced a kit featuring an anti-homophobia theme, Gueye refused to wear the special jersey, which sparked significant controversy in French society. The association believes that accepting an individual with such a history as a club shareholder would send a negative message about the club's values.

Le Mans previously stated that bringing Gueye on board would allow the club to strengthen relationships with West African and Senegalese football circles through his connections, and that his youth academy could also collaborate with Le Mans. Currently, Le Mans FC has not issued an official response to the associations' public protest.
