On September 29, Greek club Levadiakos officially announced the signing of 32-year-old Egyptian international midfielder Mohamed Elneny on a free transfer. The former Arsenal midfielder will begin a new chapter in the Greek Super League.

Born on July 11, 1992, in El Mahalla, Egypt, Elneny boasts extensive club and international experience. He has earned 103 caps for the Egyptian national team, scoring 8 goals, and reached the Africa Cup of Nations final twice. During the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, he was named to the Team of the Tournament.

Elneny is best known for his eight-year spell at Arsenal. He joined the Gunners in January 2016 and departed in 2024, making 161 appearances and contributing 6 goals and 10 assists. During his time in North London, he won one FA Cup and two Community Shields, and reached the Europa League final in the 2018-19 season. He also featured regularly in European competitions including the Champions League and Europa League.

Before moving to England, Elneny played for FC Basel in Switzerland, where he made 144 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists while helping the club win four Swiss League titles. He later had a loan spell at Beşiktaş in Turkey.

Over the past two seasons, Elneny played for Al Jazira in the UAE, making 28 appearances and scoring 2 goals with 1 assist last season. In his first year with the club, he helped Al Jazira win the League Cup and was named to the league's best XI.

Elneny has now completed his move to Greek Super League side Levadiakos. The club welcomed the experienced Egyptian international and expressed their hopes for his success.
