England defender John Stones has admitted speeding in his £150,000 Range Rover.

The Inter Milan star was caught by police in his custom ‘Urban’ Range Rover near his home in Knutsford, Cheshire, in May.

Stones, 32, pleaded guilty to exceeding 30mph on a restricted road and was hit with four penalty points last week.

Magistrates in Warrington also fined the Yorkshireman £666 and ordered him to pay costs and a victim surcharge totalling £386.

The former Manchester City ace was caught by officers the day before his team’s 3-0 victory over Brentford last season.

Stones signed a two-year deal with Inter in the summer after a decade at the Etihad.

He helped City win six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups and five League Cups.

Stones, who also played for Barnsley and Everton, scored a winning goal on his debut for Italian giants Inter but later went off injured.

The experienced centre-back has been hampered with numerous injuries in recent years and the latest issue is with his thigh.

He was part of the England squad who finished third at World Cup, starting the quarter-final victory against Norway and semi-final defeat by Argentina.

Stones insisted he has no desire to retire from international football but his latest fitness setback has kept him out of Thomas Tuchel's squad for the current break.

He remains highly regarded by the England boss and could yet extend his career with the Three Lions into the home Euros in 2028.
