According to ESPN journalist Mark Ogden, Man City received approximately £950 million in commercial revenue from Abu Dhabi-based sponsors between 2009 and 2018, with around £830 million of that paid by the Abu Dhabi United Group, Man City's owners.

The report states that between 2009 and 2018, Man City received £949.94 million in commercial revenue from Abu Dhabi-based sponsors, but only £119.25 million came from the sponsors themselves, with the remaining £830.69 million being "recorded amounts" paid by the Abu Dhabi United Group (Man City's owners).

"Recorded amounts" is a term used by the independent commission in its ruling on Man City's Premier League financial charges. It refers to the portion of recorded sponsorship fees paid by Abu Dhabi-linked sponsors that was not actually paid by the sponsors themselves, but rather by the club's owner, the Abu Dhabi United Group.
