The Premier League confirmed that Manchester City had been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them. Speaking at the 33rd General Assembly of the European Football Clubs (Association) in Copenhagen on Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi reacted to the news.

The charges pertain to serious breaches of financial rules, dating all the way back to the club’s takeover by Abu Dhabi United Group. Sponsorship income was inflated, whilst costs were masked, allowing Manchester City to circumvent strict spending limits set by UEFA and the Premier League, and allowing the club to gain a competitive advantage. The club immediately announced that they would appeal the decision. That is even before a sanction has been handed down by the Premier League.

Al-Khelaifi, speaking at the EFC (formerly the European Club Association), of which he is the chairman, reacted to the news. “Firstly, we are not here to judge something that is still not a final decision,” began PSG’s president.

He continued, “Secondly, we are here to help each other, to support each other. Of course, if there is anything wrong… I’m not a lawyer, but I think that they have the right to appeal, so it is not the final decision. And we are not in a position to say [anything]; it is more a Premier League, an English club matter. Let’s see where it will go. Ferran (Soriano) has been great to the board. A big asset who adds value to us with his knowledge. His career is fantastic, and Manchester City did a lot of positive things also, but I am not in a position to judge. We are not in a position to judge. We are not judges and we are not a court.
