According to Bild, the UEFA Nations League match between Ireland and Austria was temporarily halted after Irish fans threw a tennis ball decorated with a Palestinian flag onto the pitch. The match eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the 21st minute, Irish fans threw a tennis ball onto the pitch. A fan who quickly ran onto the field was apprehended. The protesters reportedly timed the action to commemorate 21,000 children killed in the Gaza Strip, a figure reported by humanitarian organizations earlier this year.

On Sunday, Irish players sparked controversy following their 3-0 victory over Israel. Citing their opposition to the war in Gaza, they refused to shake hands with Israeli players and collectively bowed their heads during the opposing team's national anthem.
