Brazil coach Ancelotti attended the pre-match press conference ahead of the India match in Kolkata, discussing topics including the starting lineup, evaluation of young players, and building the team for the new cycle. This article covers the second half of the press conference.

What is one characteristic of the Brazil national team that you least want to see it lose?

Of course, commitment is very important, and so is skill. Also, the joy of playing football, which is very important for Brazilians. Joy is a very important characteristic of Brazilian culture. I hope the players can enjoy the game and play every match with joy.

Because sometimes the pressure of the game makes you forget what football is. Football is a sport and entertainment—you should enjoy playing it.

This international break differs from our usual arrangements; you have more days to work with the team. How important is this for you? How much has this period helped you evaluate players called up for the first time and those previously called to Brazil but who didn't participate in the World Cup?

I think this has been a very valuable period. We've had the opportunity to spend more time with the players, conduct more training sessions, and focus more on technical and tactical aspects in training. For the players, this means less frequent travel, more recovery time, and they can return to their clubs in better physical condition. I believe FIFA's decision to combine the September and October international breaks is excellent.

After 2002, five-time World Cup winners Brazil have not won the World Cup again. Why is that?

That's difficult to say. I can only speak to what happens in 2026, since I arrived here in 2025. As for 2026, I believe there are some issues we couldn't resolve in one year that we need to address in the coming year.

Winning the World Cup is very difficult, especially because football has changed and other national teams have made significant progress. In my view, until 2002, Brazil's success was based primarily on exceptional individual talent.

Now, I believe individual talent alone is no longer enough to win the World Cup. Football has evolved; it's now more about teamwork. You must build an excellent, strong, and cohesive team around these talented players.

With Raphinha absent, you can deploy Endrick and Pedro in the furthest forward positions. What different characteristics do these two players possess, and what can they bring to Brazil? Have you decided who will start tomorrow?

I think you can answer that question yourself. The difference between Endrick and Pedro is quite obvious.

Endrick is a young player with extraordinary talent, great skill, and excellent strength and explosiveness. Pedro, on the other hand, is an experienced and very skillful player. I knew Pedro before. To explain Pedro's characteristics is quite simple: Pedro is a player who understands how to play football.

Finally, I want to add something. This press conference is also an opportunity for me personally and for the entire Brazil national team to thank this beautiful country for the warm hospitality you've shown us.
