According to Lee Ryder, Newcastle correspondent for The Chronicle, the club has confirmed that Lewis Miley's injury is not serious, and the 20-year-old midfielder is expected to return to the club's Benton training ground next week to resume training.

Miley's withdrawal from the England U21 national team earlier this week and his absence from their 0-0 draw against Slovakia U21 initially raised concerns about his condition. However, it is understood that Miley only suffered a collision in training, and his withdrawal from the national team was primarily a precautionary measure.
Upon returning to Newcastle, Miley underwent examinations by the club's medical team and has been cleared to resume training next week. This is a significant boost for the team, especially considering Miley suffered a leg fracture late last season.
Since Howe took over Newcastle this season, Miley has been an important member of the team, starting all five Premier League matches and making two substitute appearances in the League Cup. In addition to playing as a No. 6 and No. 8 midfielder, he also filled in at right-back against Hull City.
With the away match against Coventry approaching on October 12, Newcastle will also assess Jacob Ramsey, who has been sidelined with a thigh injury. Internally, the club hopes to have Miley, a now-healthy Joelinton, N. González, Joe Willock, Alagie Bamba, and Shane Stoel available for selection.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Evan Jehu has withdrawn from the France U21 national team due to a hamstring injury and is currently undergoing assessment, including an MRI scan. He had previously missed Newcastle's 2-2 draw against Bournemouth due to an ankle injury. If this latest injury forces him to miss the first few games after the international break, Nick Pope will be available for the match against Coventry.
Another Newcastle youngster, Stoel, presents a more optimistic picture. He was substituted due to cramps in the match against Hull City, but this week he played for the Netherlands U21 and completed 90 minutes in their 4-2 victory over Slovenia U21 in the European Championship qualifiers.
Stoel completed 90 passes throughout the match with a passing accuracy of 94.4%, making him one of the team's standout performers. Howe has also publicly praised the 18-year-old midfielder, believing he embodies Newcastle's future direction for recruiting and developing young players—finding youngsters with potential who are not afraid to express themselves on the field.
"I remember some games where everyone was praising his attitude and the maturity he showed at 18," Howe said. "I told him it's okay to make mistakes, like a pass that eventually leads to a turnover."
"I have no doubt about him. He has real quality at such a young age, and the key is how he responds. Even after making a mistake, he will still actively ask for the ball and not hide, which is the right attitude. I believe both the coaching staff and the fans will give him full support."
Additionally, Newcastle has brought in a new U21 goalkeeper coach from Scotland. Fraser Stewart from Kilmarnock will join the club to work with U21 head coach Robbie Stockdale. The 37-year-old coach previously worked in youth development at Rangers, Aberdeen, and Ayr United. Stewart was originally expected to return to Rangers, but Newcastle ultimately intervened and successfully signed him.
