According to Corriere della Sera, Ciro Immobile discussed his retirement, a new chapter for the Italian national team, and his final year at Lazio in an interview.

Ciro Immobile said: "When you have a Rolls-Royce but realize it can't run as fast as before, you have to accept defeat.

That's what happened to me. Plus, there's pride—I didn't want to leave a bad impression. I gave a lot to football and received a lot in return. Stopping is the respect I owe to myself and to those who watch me play.

What changed? I've always lived a very structured life. Suddenly, the plan disappeared, so I reorganized. I went to the gym, closely monitored my business projects, and spent a lot of time with family."

Speaking about a new chapter for the Italian national team, Ciro Immobile expressed excitement about Roberto Mancini taking the helm again. Mancini and Ciro Immobile won the 2021 European Championship together.

Ciro Immobile said: "It's the best decision, not nostalgia. Mancini has the ability to unite the team and doesn't complicate your mind. He looks for qualities that are just as important as technical ability. Today, he called up these players, showed them trust, and gave them encouragement. Everyone is highly motivated. No one will step back, and the results of the change are already visible.

He involves everyone in the same way and successfully brings them together to achieve a common goal. The pitch belongs only to them, and all disputes are left outside. If I were to replace Mancini? I still have a long way to go. In ten years, I'd really want to sit in that seat."

Regarding his final year at Lazio, Ciro Immobile said: "People were already saying goodbye to me, shaking my hand, and eventually I raised that hand and left on my own. But I swear, until the end, my relationship with Lotito was like that of a father and son. So the sadness was doubled. I opened the door and eased the awkwardness. Now they're running at the top of the league? The fans must be very happy."
