According to Sport Mediaset, Internazionale defender Akanji stated that the team's goal this season is to win every competition.

In an exclusive interview with Mediaset, Akanji discussed his adaptability to different formations, the team's ambitions, and his teammates Chivu and Stones. He said: "Three at the back or four at the back? I think I can adapt to both systems. Perhaps I play in a back four more often, and the national team also uses this system, so I might be more accustomed to it. When I first arrived at Internazionale, whether playing as a wide centre-back or a central defender in a back three, I needed a bit of time to adapt because it's a different system, but now it's not a problem. I train for it every day."
Akanji said: "The goal should always be to win everything. We participate in every competition to win it, and we will fight for it. I won't be satisfied with just winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia like last year; I want to win everything. It would be great to win the award for the best defender in Serie A, of course, but that's not up to me. The most important thing is always the team, and I will do my job well."
Regarding the team conceding early goals in several matches, Akanji stated: "Against Roma, the situation was difficult; they played very well. In Madrid, we made some mistakes; the same happened against Napoli. However, we always maintained a strong mentality, which helped us turn things around."
Speaking about Stones and Chivu, Akanji said: "I am happy that Stones is at Internazionale. He is training, and I can't wait to play with him again. Chivu is a great coach who did an excellent job last year; winning is never easy. He managed things well with the leadership and also brought out the best in the players."
