According to The Sun, Messi's business empire is valued at approximately £830 million, covering club investments, hotels, real estate, and commercial partnerships.

Messi ended his Argentina national team career in a farewell match. The 39-year-old World Cup winner played against Benin, approximately 21 years after his national team debut against Hungary in 2005.

Messi signed lucrative contracts during his time at Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Miami. He holds stakes in Spanish clubs Cornellà and Eldense, and Uruguayan club LSM Sport; he also has the opportunity to acquire a stake in Inter Miami after retirement.

Messi also plans to build and acquire a network of clubs. Cornellà, located in the suburbs of Barcelona, currently plays in the Spanish fifth-tier league and has previously developed players such as Jordi Alba, David Raya, and Keita Baldé. Eldense plays in the Spanish second-tier league. In 2025, Messi co-founded Uruguayan club LSM Sport with former Barcelona teammate Luis Suárez, which has been promoted to the local third-tier league.

Forbes estimated Messi's net worth at $1.1 billion, or approximately £830 million, in June; his annual income is estimated to be around $140 million, including both football earnings and off-field business income. Adidas has a lifetime contract with Messi, reportedly valued at approximately $1 billion, or £755 million.

Messi ventured into the hotel industry in 2017, purchasing the MiM Sitges hotel near Barcelona, Spain. He currently owns six boutique hotels in locations such as Ibiza, Andorra, and Mallorca. The hotels partner with Majestic Hotel Group and are operated by Meliá Hotels International under the Meliá Collection.

In Messi's hometown of Rosario, his family's company manages a residential development called Carrasco M, consisting of 24 residences located next to the Paraná River. The real estate agent for Messi's former Argentina national teammate Ángel Di María is responsible for selling the plots in this project.

Messi also invested in El Club de la Milanesa, an Argentine-flavored restaurant chain. The brand reportedly plans to open five restaurants in Catalonia, with the first one in the Castelldefels area.

In 2024, drinkware brand Stanley announced a multi-year partnership with Messi. Messi will also advise the brand on product design and colors.

Reports indicate that Messi's business empire was initially built by his father, Jorge Messi. Jorge Messi passed away in August.
