FC Goa edged out Odisha FC 1-0 in their fifth match of the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) season on Saturday at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim.

Igor Angulo's first half strike (45+2') was enough to seal a comfortable win for the Gaurs over the Juggernauts.

Stuart Baxter made four changes to the Odisha lineup which lost to Mumbai City in their last game. Arshdeep Singh, Hendry Antonay, Vinit Rai and Manuel Ownu replaced Kamaljit, Goerge D'Souza, Nandhakumar Sekar and Daniel Lalhimpuia.

Juan Ferrando made just one change to the winning combination from their game against Kerala Blasters. Alberto Noguera returned to the lineup replacing Edu Bedia.

Goa controlled the game right from the off and had more than 65 per cent of ball possession in the first half. Odisha, on the other hand, were not up to the mark and failed to pose any threat in their attacking third.

Ferrando's men exploited both flanks and created numerous scoring opportunities but were not able to convert those until the very end of the half when Igor Angulo found the back of the net from Alexander Romario's pass. The winger beat Shubham Sarangi on the left edge of the box and found the Spanish forward who beat Steven Tayor with his first touch and struck past Arshdeep Singh to hand his team the lead.

The Gaurs continued to dominate proceedings in the second half as well as Odisha no real urgency to score an equaliser.

Juan Ferrando's side could have easily increased their tally if not for Arshdeep Singh's brilliant performance under the bar. Jorge Ortiz came close to score twice but on both occassions the Odisha goalkeepers pulled of quality saves.

Baxter introduced Marelinho in the final few minutes of the game. The Brazilian's absence was felt throughout the match as there was clearly a lack of creativity in the midfield.

FC Goa moved up to the fourth position on the league table while Odisha languished at the bottom half after today's result.
