RC Strasbourg Alsace have pulled off one of the most eye-catching squad overhauls in Ligue 1 this window, banking a staggering €102.5m from departures while reinvesting €48m across six arrivals. The headline deal saw Diego Moreira depart for AC Milan in an enormous €50m transfer on August 19, a fee that underlines the winger's rapid rise since arriving in Alsace. Moreira's exit was accompanied by a double sale to Ipswich Town on the same day — Julio Enciso commanding €30.5m and Guemissongui Ouattara fetching €20m — as Strasbourg's attacking ranks were stripped in a single decisive 48-hour spell.

The club's recruitment team moved swiftly to fill the gaps. The marquee incoming is midfielder Karim Coulibaly, signed from Werder Bremen on August 21 for €20m — the single largest outlay of the window. The 20m-euro investment signals Strasbourg's intent to build the spine of the team around Coulibaly's physicality and passing range. Real Madrid Castilla product Jacobo Ortega arrived for €10m on August 17, while Costa Rican centre-back Jeyland Mitchell was recruited from Sturm Graz for €8m two days later to shore up a defence that also lost Saïdou Sow on loan to FC Nantes.
Fábio Baldé, snapped up from Hamburger SV for €7m on August 14, brings pace and versatility to the flanks, and American international Giovanni Reyna — whose career has been searching for stability — joined from Borussia Mönchengladbach for a bargain €3m on August 4. Between the posts, Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen arrives on loan, a shrewd piece of business that adds proven quality without a permanent commitment.
The outgoings extended beyond the big sales. Rayane Messi headed to Saudi Arabia's Al-Ettifaq FC on loan, while young midfielder Rabby Nzingoula was sold to West Bromwich Albion for €2.4m — a modest fee that nonetheless contributes to a window in which Strasbourg have generated a net positive of over €54m.
The net effect is a squad that has been fundamentally reshaped. Strasbourg have lost three of their most potent attackers but acquired a blend of youth, experience, and tactical flexibility. The reinvestment strategy — weighted toward midfield and defence — suggests the coaching staff believe the goals will come from a more balanced collective rather than individual brilliance. Whether the new-look squad can gel quickly enough to compete in the upper half of Ligue 1 remains the central question heading into the autumn fixtures.
