Harry Kane creates Bundesliga history as he smashes 49-year record for Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane has become the fastest Bundesliga player in history to hit 100 goals.

The England captain scored for Bayern Munich against Union Berlin on Friday night to make German top-flight history.

Kane found the target for the 100th time in the Bundesliga since his 2023 move from Tottenham Hotspur.

He has managed to reach a century of goals in just 98 appearances by tucking away a penalty in the 39th minute of the game.

This has smashed the record previously held by German icon Dieter Muller, who took 129 matches to score 100 in 1977 for FC Cologne.

Since joining Bayern in 2023, Kane has remarkably scored a goal every 78.5 minutes in the Bundesliga.

That is a better rate than Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski.

In Bayern's last match, a 2-1 win over Elversberg, Kane became the fastest player in their history to hit 150 goals too.

The 33-year-old managed to do so in his 153rd Bayern appearance.

Last season, he scored 61 goals in 51 matches across all competitions and won the European Golden Boot with 36 league strikes.

Closing in on the Ballon d'Or?

Kane is in a strong position for the Ballon d'Or title, with the striker one of the favourites to be crowned at next month's ceremony.

Should he win, he would become the first English player since Michael Owen in 2001 to receive the honour.

And his record-breaking strike is sure to have increased his chances of pipping Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to the post.

However, speaking ahead of Friday night's game, where he has made history, he wasn't keen on speaking about the award.

Kane told Marca: “I don’t like to speak about myself… 73 goals speak for themselves.

“It’s been the best season of my life, by far.”

Bayern led 3-0 at half time against Union Berlin, with Kane's penalty the second of the evening in Munich.

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring after 18 minutes before Michael Olise added the third just before the break.
