Barcelona president Joan Laporta addressed questions at the club's general assembly regarding his trip to the United States to support the Spanish national team during the World Cup. He stated that it was crucial for him to be present as club president since eight Barcelona players were on the Spanish squad at the time, and he emphasized the necessity of building bridges with the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga.

Laporta said, "Think about it, we had eight players in the Spanish national team, so we can say Barça won the World Cup too."

However, Laporta also acknowledged the contributions of other Spanish players: "Of course, there were other players in the team who were not from Barça, and they also performed excellently and ultimately won the World Cup."

Regarding his reasons for traveling to the United States, Laporta explained, "I believe it was very important for the Barça president to be there. Furthermore, the center of world football was there at the time, and I felt I should attend."

Laporta also discussed the Spanish Football Federation's attitude towards Barcelona: "The Spanish Football Federation received us very well, and that doesn't mean I have to abandon my way of thinking or my principles."

He stated that he made this decision as the president of Barcelona, and both the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga expressed their gratitude for his visit.

Laporta concluded by saying, "I engaged in personal and institutional dialogues there, as one should on such occasions. I believe that as president of Barcelona, I did what I had to do, because at this stage, it is very important to build bridges of mutual understanding with the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga."
