Deco announced that Barcelona Atletic will be managed by the professional sports department he heads, with Bojan Krkic as his deputy.

Deco believes this approach will enhance the competitive performance of Barcelona Atletic players and ensure they experience minimal disruption when promoted to the first team under Flick. Financially, it will also allow the club to retain young players with first-team potential through strategic contracts and generate revenue from selling players who don't fit the first team's needs.
Deco explained: "The club has a vision for La Masia. We want to strengthen the management of La Masia, particularly Barcelona Atletic, because it's the closest step to the first team. We've worked with Alexanko over the past few years and reached this conclusion: Barcelona Atletic must be closer to the first team for several reasons, which I'd like to briefly explain. I don't want to talk too long, but I want to explain why this change is happening, or more accurately, it's not entirely a change but rather an enhancement."
Deco continued: "We want to bring Barcelona Atletic closer to the first team. It's the final stepping stone to the first team, and we want to manage it well. Barcelona Atletic's role is to serve the first team's needs. We're not a holding company that owns other clubs and can loan out young players. We want to build Barcelona Atletic with the same philosophy and principles as the first team. This can develop better players and reduce their adaptation time. We don't want players to face major changes when they step down to train with Barcelona Atletic. We want to maintain the same philosophy and training principles, which also prepares them for the future. Over the past two years, we've signed some young players to fill certain gaps in La Masia, such as Hamza. We want to optimize our competitive plan, so these adjustments are necessary. We want better communication between the Barcelona Atletic coach and the first-team coach, regarding philosophy and player deployment. Throughout the season, we'll have various needs, such as promoting players to the first team and also giving them playing time at Barcelona Atletic. Therefore, we want to adopt a unified approach so players are always ready for the first team."
Deco added: "There's also the matter of managing training volume, physical preparation, and clarifying how we should play. Physical aspects are very important. We can't have two different philosophies for the first team and Barcelona Atletic. This is also a market strategy. I believe Barcelona Atletic and La Masia have significant market value for the club. We can further increase their market value and generate financial revenue for the club. This also relates to strategic contract management. Many young players need contract renewals across different age groups, so things can sometimes get out of control. We always say we must have talent, but we must also manage that talent well and ensure contracts include a forward-looking strategy, which is what we hope to achieve with this adjustment," Deco concluded.
