In an interview with Men's Health, Gavi discussed how his injury has made him more patient and taught him lessons beyond football.

Barcelona midfielder Gavi acknowledged that he faces more pressure now than when he was promoted to the first team at 17. However, he noted that his younger age back then allowed him to enjoy football more. Gavi stated: "Now I feel much more pressure than when I was 17. Back then, I didn't realize what position I was in. The younger I was, the more I enjoyed football."
Gavi said that despite these changes, his approach to the game remains unchanged, and he still focuses on football itself: "If you're always thinking about what will or won't happen when you play, I don't think you can enjoy football. You have to clear your mind and compete as usual, and let whatever happens happen, regardless of how much or little you think about it."
Speaking about how his injury affected him, Gavi said that the recovery process taught him patience and led him to set staged goals: "Perhaps I wasn't as patient before, but now I am. When I was injured, I had to complete each stage one by one and set goals for myself. This also taught me things beyond football. For example, now I take better care of myself than when I first started."
Gavi also stressed that he must keep his knees in good condition whether or not he's playing. He said: "My knees must always be strong, whether I'm playing football or not. I can't be careless because problems can arise at any time."
Gavi credited his family's support for helping him through the most difficult period. He believes that psychological support can be valuable for any athlete: "A psychologist is always helpful. It's important whether you're in a bad state or a very good one. I've never been, but I'd really like to go." He added: "Staying with my family also helped me a lot."
The Spanish international made his debut for Barcelona and the Spanish national team while still a minor. He said he has maintained the same mindset since his debut: "I know there is a painful side to football. Before, I just went to training, played matches, and repeated it every weekend. I've always been a clear-headed person who knew what I wanted."
