According to FcInterNews, Kim Min-jae was offered to Internazionale by his club, but the move failed to materialize due to his excessive salary demands.

Although Internazionale's defense concedes too many goals—not always solely due to individual errors—the overall setup is now relatively complete. After Benjamin Pavard confirmed he would stay, Inter adjusted its transfer strategy, considering John Stones for central defense while continuing to rely on Manuel Akanji in the middle. Cristian Romero also did not join, an option that would have only become realistic had Pavard departed. Ultimately, Inter's defense remained unchanged.

However, in the weeks leading up to the transfer window, Inter's management was still searching for a player to strengthen the central defensive position in their three-man setup. According to FcInterNews, Kim Min-jae was offered to Inter by his club at that time. The South Korean centre-back, born in 1996, previously played for Napoli in Serie A and spent the past season as a backup option behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah at Bayern Munich. Given Bayern's €50 million outlay to sign him from the newly crowned Serie A champions Napoli in summer 2023, his limited role was clearly not what was anticipated. Based on his pedigree, playing style, and circumstances at Bayern, Kim Min-jae was once viewed as an ideal opportunity for Inter.

However, negotiations stalled when salary discussions began. Kim Min-jae's wage demands exceeded Inter's budget, and the club needed to allocate funds to other necessary signings. Additionally, Inter would have needed to negotiate with Bayern. With Kim Min-jae's contract running until 2028, Bayern was highly unlikely to agree to a loan, as doing so would leave the player with just one year remaining on his deal the following summer, placing Bayern in a weaker negotiating position. Ultimately, both the salary requirements and transfer fee exceeded Inter's capacity, making a deal virtually impossible from the start.
