Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro is rehabilitating a hamstring injury with specialist fitness coaches in Spain, according to Football London. He is expected to miss approximately a month of action, potentially including the Manchester United match, with Djed Spence set to deputize for him.

The 27-year-old right-back enjoyed a memorable summer, winning the World Cup with Spain and signing a lucrative long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur. However, his Premier League campaign has been inconsistent, and following the international break, Porro suffered a hamstring injury just 19 minutes into Tottenham's match against Aston Villa.
The injury is expected to sideline him for approximately a month. With manager Ange Postecoglou giving all non-international players the first week off, Porro took the opportunity to return to his hometown of Extremadura to train with specialists, ensuring he returns in peak physical condition while strengthening the muscles around his hamstring.
Porro has worked for years with physiotherapist David de la Era, who runs the Axis Polyclinic in Badajoz and assists several international players. The right-back is regarded as one of the fittest players at Tottenham Hotspur and in the Spain squad. Last week, the two visited the SPZ Iron Training Club, where CEO Nuno Ferreira, a neuroscience professor, applies sports science principles to aid the player's recovery.
SPZ documented Porro's visit in a social media post: "In the process of building an elite athlete, there is never just one person behind it. It's a team. At SPZ, we have collaborated with Axis Polyclinic for over 10 years, sharing work, knowledge, and experience with many top and high-level athletes."
"This time, we had the honor of hosting Pedro Porro: a world champion, professional footballer, extremely dedicated, and most importantly, a good person. Our colleague David de la Era contacted our colleague Nuno to coordinate joint work between different professionals. What is the goal?"
"To evaluate, adjust, and optimize different aspects of his preparation, incorporating perspectives, experience, and knowledge, always working towards the same objective. Because when multiple professionals share information and coordinate their work, the results are far greater than any single training session. It's collaboration. It's trust. It's shared learning. It's performance."
"At SPZ, we will always serve our athletes, helping them get closer to their goals. Thank you to David de la Era and the entire Axis Polyclinic team for trusting us and allowing us to continue sharing knowledge. I work in a team. Always."
De la Era replied: "I never tire of sharing these 'special' cases with my friend Nuno, where it's not just about a specific injury, and we don't stick to purely mechanical solutions... Here we have to be more sophisticated, and there's nothing better than having a hypothesis, someone who understands and shares it, and the ability to solve problems together."
"Time and work will tell us if we are right... but at least we've maximized that aspect you love so much—we've gone beyond the routine. Thank you to you and @mivecinojoseq for consistently supporting me in the way only you know how. We move forward."
Porro could miss Tottenham Hotspur's trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on October 10, with Djed Spence set to take his place. All eyes will then be on whether the Spaniard can return to the squad for Tottenham's home match against Coventry on October 19, or the short trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea five days later.
