According to Mundo Deportivo, Rui Pinto, founder of Football Leaks, claims that FIFA President Gianni Infantino was fully aware of the 2018 leak that triggered an investigation into Manchester City and should therefore resign.

Pinto believes that Infantino is facing pressure ahead of the 2027 FIFA election. Given his role in investigations involving Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, Pinto argues he should have no further involvement in football's future.

Pinto wrote on social media: "In 2014, one person knew about the irregularities surrounding Manchester City. The notorious Gianni Infantino, then UEFA Secretary General, abused his power by leaking confidential documents and obstructing the investigators' work."

He continued: "He did everything he could to ensure Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain received only fines, thereby preventing further investigations that might have resulted in their exclusion from the Champions League."
