In an interview with Betsson.sport, Sneijder looked back at his career and discussed his move from Real Madrid to Internazionale.

Sneijder stated that joining Internazionale after two years at Real Madrid was a very important transfer for him. He said: "After two years playing for Real Madrid, I went to Internazionale, and then I won everything there. Things happen because they are meant to happen." He also spoke about difficulties he experienced in his private life in Spain and the significant influence Jose Mourinho had on him. Recalling the Champions League final in Rome, Sneijder mentioned that Mourinho proudly emphasized that the team did not "park the bus," which demonstrated the attacking courage of that squad.
Sneijder also talked about free kicks. He recalled that during his time at Ajax, Koeman would keep him on the field after every training session to practice shooting and free kicks. When asked about former teammates, Sneijder chose Guti, calling him the best player he ever played alongside. However, their relationship did not start well, with Guti not speaking to him for the first three months. As for the toughest opponent, Sneijder mentioned Shinji Ono, whom he faced while playing for Feyenoord, describing Ono as a talented player who was equally adept with both feet.
Speaking about coaches, Sneijder expressed an unfulfilled wish: to be coached by Ancelotti. He said: "I think I would have gotten along very well with him. Everyone tells me Ancelotti is great, and I've seen from the outside how he handles relationships with players—for example, how he speaks in press conferences. These are things I appreciate: a coach who speaks calmly and always shows great trust in his players."
Sneijder also explained his decision to retire. He said: "It wasn't that difficult, because I stopped playing while I was in Qatar, and during that time I was constantly injured. I felt my legs couldn't support me anymore. I always told myself that when I was truly physically unable to continue, I would retire." Recently, he also participated in a "Survivor"-style reality show with other former Dutch players. Sneijder stated: "It was a wonderful experience, being there for 12 to 13 days with minimal food. I can cook, so I practically did everything for the other players. They were very happy, and it was a truly great survival experience."
