Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand stated in an interview with Sport TV after Denmark's home loss to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League that Portugal is the stronger team and offered his congratulations to the opponent. He also spoke about Ronaldo and his former club Sporting CP.

Regarding the match

Hjulmand said: "It was a very competitive match. Even though they have world-class players, we tried to control the game. Frankly, they are a stronger team than us. We tried to leverage our strengths, employing man-marking, high pressing, playing more aggressively, and creating chances. We lost some duels, which allowed them space, especially around Bruno Fernandes. If you give him space, he can make things happen, and he did it twice."

Hjulmand declined to comment directly on Ronaldo's situation

He stated: "It's hard for me to talk about it. I don't know what happened between him and the coach yesterday, so I prefer not to comment because I'm not aware of the situation. I just want to express my respect for his career with Portugal and what he has contributed to the Portuguese people."

Before the warm-up, Hjulmand spoke with his former Sporting CP teammates Trincão, Gonçalo Inácio, and Rui Silva.

Regarding them and Sporting CP

Hjulmand said: "Yes, I chatted with them, and I miss them a lot. I hope they can turn things around at Sporting CP and win the league title. I will always follow Sporting CP and hope they achieve the success they deserve. I will follow them until the end. I've watched some games and know it will be difficult to win the title, but I will believe in them until the very end. Go Sporting CP, always, always!"

Regarding his transfer to Atlético Madrid

Hjulmand stated: "I needed a new challenge. Frankly, Atlético Madrid gave me the opportunity to play in a different league. That's what I wanted to do. Although I had three wonderful years at Sporting CP and will never forget that time, when I received this offer, I felt it was the right choice."
