According to Football.London, Kulusevski has returned to Tottenham Hotspur training after more than 500 days out with injury, and may switch to the number 10 role.

During the international break, De Zerbi brought a group of Tottenham Hotspur players back to the club's training ground. As most Tottenham Hotspur players reported for national team duty, approximately one-third of the squad remained at the club's Enfield training center to improve their fitness, sharpen their form, or recover from injuries with the coaching staff.

De Zerbi had Maddison, Gallagher, and Solanke participate in training, along with Udogie, Adarabioyo, Senesi, Kudus, and Savio, who joined for £85 million this summer. Kulusevski also returned, ending an absence of over 500 days, and rejoined training.

Kulusevski suffered a complex patellar injury to his right knee in May 2025 during Tottenham Hotspur's 0-2 loss to Crystal Palace, and subsequently faced multiple setbacks, leading to doubts about his return.

Now, the Swedish player has participated in full training with the squad. If he remains healthy in the coming weeks and avoids the minor injuries common after a long layoff, he could be back in the matchday squad as early as this month, possibly even on the bench.

The 26-year-old looked sharp in training footage this week, delivering several precise passes that created scoring opportunities for Kudus. Although Kudus joined Tottenham Hotspur over a year ago and has also experienced a long-term injury, the two attackers have never played together in a match.

In small-sided games, Kudus was active on the right wing, with Kulusevski constantly feeding him the ball. Once Kulusevski is fully recovered, will De Zerbi deploy him in the number 10 role, competing with Maddison, rather than on the right wing where he more frequently played before his injury?

The Swedish international possesses excellent ability, and once all players are healthy, Tottenham Hotspur will have several technically gifted and positionally versatile attacking midfielders.
