According to Globo Esporte, Brazil is entering the 2030 cycle with 24 of 26 players who have competitive experience with Brazil's youth national teams.

Respecting the past helps shorten the path and shape the future. The Brazilian national team is beginning its 2030 cycle, planning to rejuvenate the squad while still focusing on players familiar with the yellow shirt. In the first international gathering since the FIFA World Cup loss, Carlo Ancelotti has given opportunities to new players, over 90% of whom have previously worn Brazil youth national team kits at various levels.
Spain's success under Luis de la Fuente, with UEFA Euro and FIFA World Cup titles, serves as an example. The Brazilian national team believes it is important to reflect on and value the work that has been done. Since the FIFA World Cup, coaches from all levels of Brazil's youth national teams have met with the senior national team coaching staff. An immediate result of this integration is that 24 of the 26 selected players have experience representing the national team at lower age groups.
Raphinha and Lino are the two exceptions in this squad. Among the other players, some have competed from U15 to U23, some are Olympic champions like Marquinhos, Douglas Santos, and Bruno Guimarães. Martinelli only trained with the U18, and Gabriel Bontempo was called up to the U20 but ultimately was not released by Santos.
André is the player called up most frequently among these names. The Manchester United midfielder competed for six Brazil youth age groups before joining the professional team: U15, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U23. For most of these young players, it was not just about competing; they won titles with Brazil. The Brazilian national team is currently the defending champion of both the U17 and U20 South American Championships.
All 24 players have received guidance from Branco, a four-time champion. In his second term as coordinator of Brazil's youth national teams at the CBF, a position he has held since 2018, Branco has noted a stronger connection with the senior national team since Ancelotti's arrival.
"I am very confident in the work we want to promote with Brazil's youth national teams. We have a very professional observation and analysis department. Ancelotti will receive plenty of information and options, allowing him to carry out this renewal process calmly. In the first gathering after the FIFA World Cup, most players had solid youth national team experience. Many have also won important titles at the South American Championship and in Olympic cycles. They are accustomed to wearing the yellow shirt and understand the magnitude of that responsibility."
The Brazilian Football Confederation has increased focus on developing young domestic players, with national team director Cícero Souza being one of the key figures driving collaboration between clubs and state federations. Branco is also a leader in this effort and emphasizes the importance of this direct communication:
"We work closely with clubs because clubs are the ones who truly develop players. Together, we need to address shortcomings and retrain players according to our DNA. This is a continuous process that requires a high level of integration among all coaching staff."
"Because I understand the national team and Brazilian football very well, I have a responsibility to understand the stage we are going through and answer to our fans. This is complex, but it is my mission. I want to thank Ancelotti and his coaching staff for this gathering, full of opportunities and completely confident in our youth development system."
National team director Rodrigo Caetano, who oversees all of this, places great importance on understanding each young player's characteristics in depth. The goal is not only to monitor those who have worn the national team shirt but also to identify and track players with potential for selection.
"We discuss player profiles, behavior, and how clubs approach things... Monitoring these players, the senior national team, and especially the youth national teams is very important."
"This is one of the greatest achievements of this integration. In this way, we know where talent is, who they are, and we build a database with more options."
Jair, who won the 2025 South American U20 Championship alongside Arthur Dias, Breno Bidon, and Rayan, emphasizes that youth national team experience helps players "break the ice" when joining the senior squad. Despite competing at different levels, wearing the Brazil shirt is no longer unfamiliar:
"Joining Brazil's senior national team is a very unique and special moment. Going through the youth national team levels is very important. Not just to compete, but to win titles. I feel I can bring the rich experience I have accumulated through these tournaments. This helped me greatly and will certainly help me maintain my form."
With 24 youth national team-experienced players called up, Brazil will face India this Saturday in an international friendly. The match will be played in Kolkata at 11:00 CET on November 14. In two previous matches against Australia, Ancelotti used 25 players, and goalkeeper Pedro Morisco has been confirmed as the starter for the India match.
