In a behind-closed-doors friendly match against INEOS-owned FC Lausanne-Sport on Friday, De Ligt and Baleba both featured, with the game giving Manchester United players not on international duty a chance to maintain fitness. However, Sesko did not participate in the warm-up match, and his recurring injuries have raised concerns.

Lausanne-Sport's visit also marked Kone's return to Carrington; he is on loan at the Swiss Super League club for another season, hoping to rebuild his career in Europe.

The loan has proven to be significantly beneficial for the 20-year-old, as he has started six of nine league games with three additional substitute appearances, earning strong reviews for his performances this season.

The friendly provided Manchester United with an opportunity to assess Kone firsthand, as his career at the club has been intermittent so far.

Last week, Manchester United conducted further tests and scans on the 23-year-old's recurring calf injury and are developing a treatment plan. He had already rested for two months this summer and completed a tailored program to return to first-team training and matches, but the issue has resurfaced.

Carrick will be asked about Sesko's fitness at next week's press conference before the match against Tottenham, and it will be interesting to see how he responds. Since taking over, he has deliberately kept a low profile regarding injury issues, but there are concerns that Sesko's injury could become a long-term problem.
