According to Corriere della Sera, Immobile shared his thoughts on retirement, Italy's new era under the national team, and his final year at Lazio in an interview.

Immobile said: "When you own a Rolls-Royce but realize it no longer runs as fast as it used to, you have to accept the decline. This is exactly what happened to me. Moreover, I have too much pride to leave a bad impression. I have given a lot to football and received a lot in return. Stopping is a form of respect I owe to myself and to those who watched me play."
"What has changed? I've always lived a very planned life. Suddenly, there are no more plans, so I've had to reorganize myself: go to the gym, closely monitor my business projects, and spend more time with my family."
Speaking about Italy's new era, Immobile expressed excitement about Roberto Mancini's return. Mancini and Immobile won the Euro 2021 championship together.
Immobile said: "This is the best decision, not out of nostalgia. Mancini has the ability to unite the team without distracting anyone. He looks for qualities just as important as technical ability. He called these players today, showing he trusts them and motivates them. Everyone is highly motivated. No one will step back, and the results of his changes are already showing. He treats everyone equally and succeeds in uniting them toward a common goal. The pitch belongs to them; all disputes stay outside. If I were to replace Mancini? I still have a long way to go; in 10 years, I would very much like to sit in that position."
About his final year at Lazio, Immobile said: "They saw me off, shook my hand, and in the end, I was the one who raised my hand and left. But I swear, until the very end, my relationship with Lotito was like father and son. So the sadness is doubled: I opened the door and resolved the awkwardness myself. Now that they're leading the league? The fans must be very happy."
