Bayer Leverkusen forward Boniface left the locker room before the end of the team's match, drawing attention from observers.

This season, Boniface has made only one 5-minute substitute appearance in the opening match against Elversberg, during which he provided one assist. With Kofane sidelined by injury, he was expected to receive more opportunities. However, with all substitutions already used, coach Martinez chose to replace striker Patrick with Hofmann instead, leaving Boniface on the bench.
Andrich declined to comment, stating: "That's none of my business."
Martinez said he did not notice Boniface leaving early. If it occurred, he would speak with the player privately. While he understood the player's desire for more playing time, substitution decisions are part of football.
Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director Rolfes initially joked that Boniface may have simply needed to use the restroom, but then made clear that an early departure to the locker room was inappropriate and would not be tolerated again.
Rolfes also acknowledged Boniface's recent improvement, noting that his form has been progressing weekly over the past few months and that he remains an important contributor in training and team matters. However, Rolfes emphasized that players must manage their emotions and prioritize the team's collective interests.
Boniface was not included in Bayer Leverkusen's Europa League squad for this season, making him unavailable for Thursday's match against Lech Poznań. However, he retains the opportunity to earn Bundesliga minutes.
Boniface was previously considered a potential departure, with Saudi clubs expressing interest. In January 2025, he came close to joining Al Nassr, with a reported transfer fee of approximately €70 million, but the move ultimately fell through.
