FK Ventspils star Adeleke Akinyemi may receive his first-ever call-up to the Nigeria National Team in the coming months, having been scouted by manager Gernot Rohr in a Europa League qualifier against Bordeaux last Thursday.

With 20 goals in all competitions so far this season, Akinyemi is one of the most-inform Nigerian strikers at the moment, along with Changchun Yatai's Odion Ighalo and Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho.

1) Born August 11, 1998, Akinyemi lived in Ibadan before moving abroad in search of the proverbial Golden Fleece in August 2015.
2) His first European club was KF Skënderbeu but he was immediately loaned out to KF Trepca 89 shortly after his signing as he was not guaranteed first-team opportunities.
3) He scored 10 goals in his first season in Europe with KF Trepca 89 in the Football Superleague of Kosovo.
4) Akinyemi became the first player in history to score four goals in a single match for FK Ventspils in European competitions in their 5-0 rout of Luftëtari Gjirokastër on July 12, and won the penalty converted by Tosin Aiyegun.
5) He earns three thousand euros monthly at FK Ventspils but the future is bright for the talented striker as he could depart the club before the close of the transfer window. Was recently scouted by Bordeaux, Altach, Brondby, Strasbourg, Toulouse and Freiburg.
6) Akinyemi Adeleke was discovered by ex-FK Ventspils defender Adebayo Adigun, whose father Bunmi Adigun played for the great Leventis United that dominated Nigerian football in the early 1980s.
