On August 15, Bulgarian giants Levski Sofia announced that the team had officially signed a 1+1-year contract with midfielder Marko Grujic.

The Serbian midfielder arrived at Georgi Asparuhov Stadium as a free agent. Grujic's previous club was Greek giants AEK Athens, who are Levski Sofia's opponents in the Champions League play-off round.

Grujic's professional career began in the youth academy of Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade. He then had a brief loan spell with Kolubara, another team in the local league, before moving from Red Star Belgrade to Liverpool.

Grujic became the first signing made by legendary coach Jürgen Klopp after he took over at Liverpool. During his time at Liverpool, he made 16 appearances and scored 1 goal. He was subsequently loaned back to Red Star Belgrade before joining Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin.

During his time at Cardiff City, Grujic made 14 appearances and scored 1 goal; his loan spell at Hertha Berlin was more successful, as he made 54 appearances and scored 1 goal.

Grujic was then loaned to Portuguese giants Porto, who later made the transfer permanent. During his time at Porto, he made 140 appearances and scored 4 goals.

Before joining Levski Sofia, Grujic’s previous stop in his career was with Greek giants AEK Athens. During his time with the team, he made 20 appearances and scored 1 goal.

Grujic's career has been filled with trophies. In the 2015-16 season, he won the Serbian League title with Red Star Belgrade.

After joining Porto, he helped the team win the Portuguese League title in the 2021-22 season, as well as 3 Portuguese Cups, 3 Portuguese Super Cups, and 1 Portuguese League Cup.

Last season, Grujic won the Greek league title with AEK Athens.

At the international level, Grujic was involved in one of the most glorious achievements in Serbian football history. In 2015, he won the U20 World Cup with the Serbian U20 national team. To date, he has made 30 appearances for the Serbian senior national team.
