According to Tuttosport, Helen Mirren claimed to be a die-hard Lecce fan on American television, jokingly stating that Lecce fans are the rudest in sports.

Mirren, 81, is a British actress. She has never hidden her connection to the Salento region and Lecce, and her love for Lecce has become a part of her life. During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, she interrupted the host's opening monologue to defend the reputation of football fans in her own way.

Fallon was discussing a recent survey which showed that supporters of the American football team New York Giants were the rudest among sports fans. Mirren stated: "I just heard that news about the Giants fans being the rudest, and it really made me so annoyed."

Mirren then said: "Because I'm a die-hard fan of the Italian football team, Lecce. Forza Lecce! We are the rudest fans in sports." She then jokingly uttered a string of expletives to Fallon.

Mirren's support for Lecce stems from her long-standing affection for the Salento region. The Lecce club also re-posted the video, writing: "Dame Helen Mirren on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, the most famous talk show in the world. This is the best opportunity to remind everyone of her passionate support for Lecce."
