Lecce announced on September 17 that they had extended defender Thiago Gabriel's contract until the end of the 2029/30 season. His original contract was due to expire on June 30, 2027.

This summer, the Portuguese defender had been linked with several top clubs in Italy and other leagues. As a key player for Lecce at the start of this Serie A season, he has now extended his contract with the club until 2030.

A few hours ago, Thiago Gabriel stated on Lecce's official channels: "What does it mean to stay? It's very special for me and my family. You can't always think about the transfer market; that's secondary and doesn't depend on me. My heart has always been with Lecce, so I'm really happy to be able to stay."
