According to Marca, Spanish journalist Raúl Barera stated that Zubimendi is struggling at Arsenal, and the Spanish national team needs to remain vigilant.

Spain is beginning a new cycle as European Championship winners. Barera analyzed possible adjustments that coach Luis de la Fuente might make on the program "La Tribu". He believes there shouldn't be too many changes at the beginning of the team's new phase, but certain situations warrant attention.
Barera said: "On the surface, there won't be many changes, and there's no need to make adjustments. First, the champion players deserve respect and should lead the new cycle; second, most players remain the best options for their respective positions."
Spain will face England, Croatia, and the Czech Republic in this new phase, with matches in London, Split, Prague, Oviedo, Seville, and the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
Regarding the midfield, Barera said: "The biggest long-term problem might be in midfield. We must protect Rodri, and Zubimendi's situation is difficult to explain."
Barera reviewed Zubimendi's performance during Spain's last two major tournament victories: "He barely featured during de la Fuente's tenure when Spain won the European Championship in Germany and the World Cup last year. However, in both finals, the team had to field him due to personnel shortages, and he delivered quality performances with minimal preparation."
Regarding Zubimendi's recent situation at Arsenal, Barera said: "He is currently going through a very difficult period. Arteta deployed him as a full-back in a recent cup match. Things have changed in London, and we don't know if they can return to normal; we must remain vigilant."
