In Matchday 5 of the Premier League, Tottenham suffered a 2-3 home defeat to Aston Villa. Afterwards, Van de Ven was interviewed by the club's official media.

Micky, thank you for the interview. Could you please comment on today's match?
I think we played really well in the first half, creating some incredible chances and many good opportunities with promising attacks. Then we conceded just before halftime, which was obviously tough, and going into the break with that score wasn't easy.
But we still had a good feeling heading into the dressing room—not because we played well in the first half alone, but because we pressed them and created many chances. However, our second-half performance was clearly unacceptable from our perspective.
How did that second-half collapse happen? Where did the problems stem from?
I don't know. I need to rewatch the game. But I feel like we just need to do what we're supposed to do. Even if the game isn't going well, even if we're not scoring, we need to stay calm and continue doing what we should.
Let's talk about the first half again. It felt like we had many good attacking areas and got into good positions, creating very good chances, but we just couldn't convert them. Do you think this is a confidence issue?
I don't know what the reason is, but as you said, we had many chances and played well, often getting into good positions where we could create something.
I think we just need to be more focused in those situations. I wouldn't say we lack confidence, but we need to be more alert and clinical in these moments. Sometimes we can create chances through very small details, and we need to execute them better.
We just need to do what we're always supposed to do. Of course, we have excellent individual quality in attack, and sometimes that individual brilliance is needed. But it's a tough situation right now.
Micky, one last question: are you okay? You took a hard knock but kept going. How do you feel now?
I'm fine. I'll have to get it checked out when I go back to see the specifics, but I'll be okay.
