According to Goal.com, RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba has become Barcelona's primary target and is willing to prioritize a move to the club.

Sport reports that Lukeba is willing to agree to join Barcelona if the club makes a move in the coming winter transfer window or in the summer of 2027.

Transfer expert Ekrem Konur confirms that Barcelona continues to monitor the left-footed French centre-back. Flick has received positive reports about him and believes Lukeba could adapt to Barcelona's style of play. Lukeba would also prioritize Barcelona's interest over Premier League clubs, who enquired about him last summer.

Barcelona's sporting department had previously backed strengthening the defence in the transfer window. Deco even met with Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, but Flick ultimately rejected the idea of signing a left-footed centre-back.

Other defenders Barcelona considered include Aymeric Laporte and Cristian Romero. The latter joined Atlético Madrid because Barcelona hesitated. Ekrem Konur notes that RB Leipzig could be willing to let Lukeba leave for around €65 million, though the fee could be lower, as Lukeba is determined to end his career in the Bundesliga.

Lukeba possesses strong physical attributes, is quick, and has good ball-playing ability from the back. The defender came through Lyon's academy and joined RB Leipzig from Lyon for €30 million at age 20, gradually building a solid reputation since then.

At international level, Lukeba became an important player for France, but due to some muscle issues, he was absent from Zinedine Zidane's starting lineup after the manager took over. However, the new coach has stated he will continue to trust him in the future.
