Leyton Orient has played at Brisbane Road for 89 years, but club officials believe the stadium's spatial and commercial limitations mean the 9,271-capacity ground cannot be expanded further.

Majority shareholder David Gendler hopes the new venue will be ready by 2031 to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary. He stated, "Our vision is not just to build a football stadium. We want to create a unique year-round destination that combines sport, entertainment, and community life."

CEO Mark Devlin acknowledged that, surrounded by residential areas, Leyton Orient can no longer develop sustainably at Brisbane Road. Devlin said, "Brisbane Road will always be an important part of Leyton Orient's identity, but its spatial and commercial limitations restrict our ability to grow."

The project aims to create thousands of local jobs, apprenticeships, and training opportunities for East London. Waltham Forest Council member Eva Tabasam confirmed that the local authority will work with Leyton Orient to bring significant benefits to local residents.

Leyton Orient currently sits in 10th place in League One. Their next match is against Mansfield, who are in 17th place, on September 26.
