Queiroz and the Ghana Football Association have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, meaning he will no longer serve as head coach of the Ghana national team. This comes only about a month after the two parties renewed his contract. In his farewell statement, Queiroz explained the reasons for his departure and reflected on his time coaching Ghana.

Queiroz stated, "Following discussions held on a basis of mutual respect, the Ghana Football Association and I have mutually agreed to terminate my contract as head coach of the Ghana national team, the Black Stars. This was not an easy decision to make, but both parties agreed that, under the current circumstances, ending the collaboration was the most appropriate choice. The interests of Ghana, the Black Stars, and Ghanaian football are paramount.
It has been an honor to contribute to Ghana and the Black Stars. I sincerely thank the Ghana Football Association and its president for trusting me with the opportunity to lead a nation so proud of its football heritage.
When I arrived in Ghana, I was determined to help the Black Stars become stronger and to support the development of the country's football talent. Despite our full commitment and efforts, the necessary conditions were not entirely in place. This, coupled with our recent performances, led us to decide to end this journey.
I leave with respect, gratitude, and pride. I thank my coaching staff and all those who supported us, especially those who backed us during preparations for the 2026 World Cup. Our performance at the World Cup enhanced the reputation of the Black Stars and raised the team's profile globally, which makes me proud. Most importantly, I want to pay tribute to the Black Stars players. Thank you to all the brave players who gave their all and represented Ghana with pride. You fought for your country, carrying the hopes of millions. Believe in these players. Protect them. Support them.
They have talent and potential. With unity, support, and the right environment, this generation of players can achieve extraordinary things for Ghana. To the people of Ghana and all Black Stars supporters: Thank you for your passion, support, and warmth. I will always keep Ghana in my heart with respect and affection.
The interests of Ghana come first. The interests of the Black Stars come first. The interests of Ghanaian football come first. Thank you, Ghana. To the future."
