According to Globo Esporte, Henry, Ferdinand, and Vidal have spoken out in support of Ronaldo after he left the Portugal national team camp ahead of their 4-2 Nations League victory over Denmark.

Among the three, Ferdinand has the closest relationship with Ronaldo. The former English center-back was a teammate of Ronaldo's at Manchester United from 2003 to 2009, during which time they won the 2007/08 Champions League and three consecutive Premier League titles, among other honors.
Ferdinand posted on social media, calling for respect for his former teammate's career and questioning the criticism directed at Ronaldo in recent years. He stated: "Where was Portugal before Ronaldo? What did they achieve? They struggled even to qualify for major tournaments, let alone win them. What bothers me is that many people judge him only based on his performance over the last three or four years."
Ferdinand also mentioned Ronaldo's stints at Juventus, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, arguing that his career should not be judged solely on his current situation. He said: "I think many people should look back, for example, at his performance at Juventus, and then his experiences at Real Madrid and Manchester United. It's almost like three world-class careers combined."
Henry also spoke up for Ronaldo. The French forward stated on the RMC program "Rothen s'enflamme" that the turmoil within the Portuguese team should not be used to redefine Ronaldo's career. Henry said: "They should resolve their own problems. We in France also have our own problems. To judge an entire career based on this incident? Absolutely not. When I think of Ronaldo, I will never think of this incident."
Former Flamengo player and Chilean midfielder Vidal was the most direct in his criticism of Jorge Jesus. He called Ronaldo's departure from the Portuguese team "a disgrace" on social media, stating: "It's very ugly for a player of Ronaldo's caliber, one of the top four in history, to leave the national team in this manner."
Vidal also criticized the Portuguese coach, believing the team should have protected Ronaldo. He said: "I think the coach's approach was terrible. Ronaldo must be cared for and protected; he gave everything for Portugal, making the country one of the strongest teams in the world. Such a player should not leave in this manner. Ronaldo has the right to do whatever he wants. Some coaches don't respect these things."
Ronaldo left the Portuguese national team camp after Jorge Jesus confirmed he would be a substitute for the match against Denmark. Ronaldo subsequently announced his decision to leave the national team camp and did not play. Portugal ultimately defeated Denmark 4-2 in the Nations League.
