Seedorf visited Manchester United's Carrington training ground to interview Mainoo for Amazon Prime Video Sport and discussed how fans often compare Mainoo to him.

"People compare us sometimes, maybe too much. When I was young, I didn't like to be compared. I think everyone is unique. I think you are a unique player," Seedorf told Mainoo.
"I think you have a similar mindset to what I had when I was young. The way you read the game and your calmness are very valuable qualities, because when the team is under pressure, they can rely on you."
Seedorf and Mainoo discussed the Champions League and the special feeling the competition brings. Seedorf remains the only player to have won Europe's premier club competition with three different clubs.
"It feels like it was a long time ago. I actually know it was only a few years, but it just feels like a long time because a lot has happened. I've played a lot of games, and a lot has happened," Mainoo said, reflecting on his Champions League debut in 2023.
"Where we are now, obviously we can do better in the league, and we will get better. But to get into the Champions League, hear that music, walk out at Old Trafford, that feeling is special.
"My first season was my first real taste of Champions League football. I was young, 18, and I came on against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, both late in the game, and we got knocked out. So I was like, 'I want to feel that atmosphere again.'
"I want to be back under those lights, to get back there. It's amazing."
Seedorf spoke about winning the Champions League with his idol Rijkaard and how his goal from a young age was to win as many Champions League titles as possible to match Rijkaard's achievement.
He asked Mainoo about his motivation at Manchester United, and Mainoo stated that he hopes to restore the glorious era at Old Trafford.
"Obviously, a manager like Michael Carrick won honors here and knows the golden era of Manchester United. I want to bring that back," Mainoo told Seedorf.
"I want to feel that feeling. Everyone talks about the old Manchester United, and I want to bring that feeling to now. I want to win, I want to win a lot here. That's my dream, and hopefully the club can be back at the top again."
Seedorf replied: "You're talking about the manager, and that's beautiful.
"Michael has always been a very professional person and a very good player. He will also be a very good manager in the future. I've seen some good things he's done. He brought you back on the field – very smart.
"At some point in your career, having a connection with a coach, having someone around you who believes in you, is very important. I must say I was lucky. Similarly, when I was young, many coaches believed in me."
