Nasarawa United central defender Abdulbasit Shittu has admitted that it is important for the club that they can win Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) games even when not at their best.

The Solid Miners beat Enyimba 1-0 on matchday 25 of the top flight to respond to their shocking loss to Remo Stars.

The former Giwa FC defender was glad that they managed to nick an important victory at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday.

"It was important to get the three points in the game. Maybe we didn't play as well as we have done in certain games when we have won in the past, but we showed we can grind a result out when we're not at our best," Abdulbasit told Goal.

"We could have had more goals. But what matters most in the game was three points and it was against the most successful team in Nigerian football."

"Our aim is to make Lafia a fortress - to make it really difficult for teams when they come here. We've been doing that and hopefully we can keep doing that and pick up points away too."
