USMNT reach the milestone with a New Zeland born player

The Ankaragücü striker went down in history by scoring the 1000th goal of the United States National team in the 4-0 victory against Guyana.

The United States, Gold Cup opening match against Guyana will be one more than just the first win of the 2019 edition, as this game is also the one where the Stars and Stripes squad reached its one thousand goals in history.

Tyler Boyd, a New Zeland born player, was the one to put his name down in the history books, as by scoring the second goal of the night, he also netted a historic goal, one that arrived around the 51st minute after a pass from captain Michael Bradley.

The 1000 United States goal, was also the first goal Boyd scored with the senior team in official competitions, in a night where the 24-year-old striker shined through and through ending the night with two goals that meant the milestone mark and the win over Guyana.

Tyler Boyd went to hug his parents who traveled from New Zeland and were waiting for him in the stands after the game; he gave his shirt to his mother, a shirt that will be marked as the USMNT shirt of the one thousand.

"Its a special moment for me; I had my family in the crowd, they traveled from New Zeland, after the game I gave my mom my shirt, a very special moment."

Boyd also mentioned how special it was to score two goals in the Gold Cup opening match besides scoring the 1,000th goal; "Score two goals and one be the thousand goal, what a special moment, what a good performance by the team," he concluded.
