Dortmund CEO believes Gio Reyna may have similar path to Pulisic's

Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, talked about the similarities between Christian Pulisic and Claudio Reyna's son, Giovanni.

Borussia Dortmund saw American starlet, Christian Pulisic develop under their ranks and become one of the most praised footballers in the United States, but after a six-month loan, Pulisic finished his time with the German side to join Premier League club, Chelsea.

Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke talked with The Atheltic about what the challenge of marketing to US audiences implies now that they have lost their main American star, to which he sees a promising replacement with Claudio Reyna's son, Giovanni.

"We have a lot of players who are well known in the US. Christian is the captain of the national team. That's clear. But first, we have a very interesting young player, Giovanni Reyna. He's a big, big talent. I think he will do a lot for American football in the next five or 10 years."

The arrival of Giovanni Reyna with 16 years old comes after Pulisic departure to London, which could bring the comparisons between the two, since Christian arrived in Germany one year younger than Giovanni, to develop his football career, although they have different qualities.

The Black and Yellow are recently known as developing elite talent, and Watzke can see a similar career path for Gio Reyna, who will join the club U19 squad, "Reyna has time to develop. He needs time. But he has everything a player should have. For that, he came to Borussia Dortmund."
