FA to look into huge brawl during Leeds United XI's friendly against Rhyl

The FA are looking into the incidents surrounding a Leeds United XI's friendly against Rhyl on Tuesday night.

Shameful scenes took place at the Corbett Sports Stadium during the match between a young Leeds team and a more senior side representing the Huws Gray Alliance club.

A feisty match broke down after a firm challenge involving Leeds's Bryce Hosannah, 18, with players from the Welsh team surrounding and then throwing punches towards first Hosannah and then Irish defender Paudie O'Connor, who tried to aid his younger team-mate.

A video on social media showed Rhyl's No 4, named on the team-sheet as 32-year-old Tony Davies, repeatedly attempting to hit O'Connor, 20.

English football's governing body are liaising with their Welsh counterparts due to the cross-jurisdiction nature of the game.

Leeds's Under 23s coach Carlos Corberan told his players to walk off the pitch due to fears over their safety.

He later wrote on Twitter that he was 'proud' of how they handled the incident.

'We will always represent Leeds United with the correct behaviours and values respecting the opponent and the football rules,' Corberan said.

'[I'm] proud of the players in the way they conducted themselves.'
