Ex-Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has paid a significant visit to Ethiopia, using his profile and experience to support grassroots football development in Addis Ababa. The visit focused on engaging directly with young players and coaches, highlighting the growing importance of youth structures in the country.

Sagna toured Coach Sewenet Bisahaw’s Academy, led by the man who famously guided Ethiopia back to the Africa Cup of Nations after a 31-year absence. He also stopped by the 28 Meda Youth Football Project, where he observed training sessions and took time to interact closely with the young talents on display.
Throughout the visit, shared words of encouragement, and spoke with coaches about player development. For the youngsters, it was a memorable experience and a rare opportunity to learn from a player who competed at the highest levels of European football. For Ethiopian football, the visit served as a powerful boost to youth development efforts and a reminder of the impact global football figures can have at grassroots level.
